A Long Way Gone Chapter 21

1. His memories gives him a tingling sensation in his belly.
2.
He never seen so many white people that are in a rush.
3.
His school back home is not as high-tech as Sbta.
4.
The kids helped their teacher with growing crops in their farms or gardens. The teachers get paid with crops in his country.
5.
No one sat close to him or Mohamed because they used to kill people.
6.
I would not be nervous to be friends with them because I would like to learn from their experience.
7.
May 25, 1997 was the day they have waken up from noise from around the city.

The cause of the noise were gunshots because the government has been overthrown.
9.
The newly freed prisoners were handed guns and they went to the houses of judges and lawyers who had sentenced them and killed them and their families.

I think that's crazy how the government can let them out and let them do that.

The prison system is different from US because our system is more secure.
12.I would
feel very paranoid and in fear if I were to live in Freetown when all this is happening.

The city turn into lawlessness because the RUF and the army had collaborated in ousting the civilian government for the benefit of the nation.

I would that that if life would be like if we had no laws and people handled their own troubles that the world would be chaotic and I would not want to live there.

The rebels were blowing up bank vaults and looting money.

The secret market conducted conducted unavailable food items that were sold to civilians.

The rebels ordered everyone to put down their bags of food, and to lie flat on the ground.

Civilians were dieing in the streets for no reason, just like how the rebels shot the woman in the head for panicing and running away.

Mohamed went with Ishmael and ran home.

The gun shots lasted for 5 months.

People eating raw rice most of the days.

His uncle was sick and died.

Some of his rehabilitated friends returned to being in the war.

If I were Ishmael and stayed in Freetown, I think I would end up joining the rebels again.

he only way of getting out of Freetown without being killed was to travel during curfew right before sunrise.

Their final destination was out of Freetown into New Guinea.

The soldiers were so strict into searching them because they might have something they don't want having.

There was room on the bus for him

He has escaped death because he is a really lucky person.

He offer his story for people who have never experienced war.

The talking monkey was about making choices of either letting your mother of father die.

A Long Way Gone Chapter 20

1. His version of NYC was people looking for violence on the streets? He got his idea of NYC from rap music.
2. I think NYC would be really busy, crowded, and cold.
3. He had no idea what winter was because he had never experienced the cold in Sierra Leone? He learn about winter from movies.
4. He felt cold and was surprised NYC wasn't what he expected.
5. I experienced culture shock when I first moved to the US. buildings, cars, traffic etc. were similar but the way people acted were different.
6. They were staying at Vanderbilt YMCA hotel.
7. The other children there all has similar stories of starvation, war, and suffering.
8. He was baffled by the food because he had never seen other types of food before and hard for him to adjust how he ate.
9. He learned about some of the other children there and they had somewhat of a similar struggle as him.
10. Laura Simms is a white woman who was a story teller from NYC that teaches people hot to tell their stories in a more compelling way.
11. He didn't accept her winter jacket because it was a girl's jacket.
12. Him and Madoka visited the Times Square and saw tall buildings, colorful lights, big colorful advertisement screens.
13. The conference was about each country speaking briefly at the UN Economic and Social Council chamber about their country and experiences.
14. His speech was about where he's from, what he's been through, and how things are at Sierra Leone.
15. Yes I agree with his speech because I just agree with it.
16. Tell me one experience you have had that has changed your life and you are still working on or dealing with.
17. Music and dancing was a big part of his life because it was part of his culture.
18. He left NY on Nov. 15, 1966.
19. He was going back home.
20. I think he will move to NYC in the next chapter.
21. His life will be different now in Sierra Leone by how he changed his life.
22. I don't think he will return to the group he was a part of.
23. I don't know a time where I have experience growth from something negative.

The new manager generated a lot of problems.


2. Accumulating- get or gather together
I am accumulating evidence for the man's unfaithfulness to his wife.


3. Radiator- any object that radiates energy
A radiator can radiate energy.


4. Baffled- people who are frustrated and perplexed
The children faces clearly expressed the frustration of the baffled.


5. Facilitators- the condition of being made easy
Social facilitation is an adaptive condition.


6. Compelling- driving or forcing
Compelling ambition.


7. Awe- an overwhelming feeling of wonder or admiration
He stared over the edge with a feeling of awe.


8. Oriented- adjusted or located in relation to surroundings or circumstances sometimes used in combination
The house had its large windows oriented toward education.


9. Overwhelmed- charge someone with too many tasks
I overwhelmed him with the work I gave him.


10. Mesmerized- having your attention fixated as though by a spell
He was mesmerized.


11. Aimlessly- without aim; in an aimless manner
He aimlessly traveled.


12. Influential- having or exercising influence or power
He had an influenced experience with his friend.
