Casstte 7 Side A


1. Hannah went to Mr. Porter for help.
2. Hannah and Mr. Porter’s conversation didn't go too well, he was not very helpful
3. Mr. Porter could have helped Hannah out by preventing her suicide by actually doing his job.
4. I think Mr. Porter did not go after Hannah when she left him in the office because he didn't realize what she really meant in what she said.
5. Hannah- the girl who killed herself, Mr. Porter- the English counselor
6. Hannah's last words were "I'm Sorry"
7. He was crying because he felt bad.
8. There hasn't been a time when I couldn't control myself crying.
9. He says thank you in the end because he had nothing else to say about the tapes.
10. I didn't have a favorite part in this chapter.
11. I can't relate to anything in this chapter.

1. Hannah decided to commit suicide by over taking pills because it was the least painful way for her.
2. The last time clay saw Hannah was at school.
3. Bryce Walker Called Hannah to his house over the fence to get in the Hot tub.
4. Hannah got inside the hot tub with Courtney and Bryce Walker, then Courtney left shortly after.
5. Hannah was suicidal, Courtney called Hannah to get in the hot tub, Bryce was harassing Hannah in the hot tub.

1. I honestly cant relate to anything that Hannah is going through.

1. Clay ordered a hot chocolate at Monet's in honor of Hannah.
2. Clay is clueless why he is involved because he believes he didn't do anything to make her kill herself.
3. Tyler was a "peeping Tom" who would stalk Hannah.
4. Hannah described Tyler as a creepy, Peeping Tom.
5. Tyler was on the tapes because he was stalking and taking pictures of Hannah through her window.
6. Hannah was recording this tape underneath Tyler's window.
7. Tyler took pictures of Hannah outside her room.
8. I wouldn't ignore i would confront it as soon as it happened.
9. I would tell an adult and/or the cops.
10. I don't know how i would avoid a stalker but just by staying away.
11. Hannah's dad would walk outside to the sidewalk to make sure no one could see her from the street.
12. Tyler's window is described as the shades being all the way down, and made of bamboo, or fake bamboo. and between each stick is a varying amount of space.
13. Hannah wanted to tell the girl in her class about the peeping tom because the girl was a good listener and sympathetic.
14. The girls tricked the "Peeping Tom" to thinking they didn't know he was outside the window.
15. I don't think a Staler gets anything from this.
16. I think they drama wont end it will just continue and all will have connections to each other.
17. I think Tyler would have had gotten in trouble with the police and gotten a punishment.
18. Tyler destroyed Hannah's safe place because she said that's all she had left.

1. Justin’s story affected Hannah by disrespecting her.

9. If I received the tapes, I would have been feeling weird.

1. His memories gives him a tingling sensation in his belly.

He never seen so many white people that are in a rush.

His school back home is not as high-tech as Sbta.

The kids helped their teacher with growing crops in their farms or gardens. The teachers get paid with crops in his country.

No one sat close to him or Mohamed because they used to kill people.

I would not be nervous to be friends with them because I would like to learn from their experience.

May 25, 1997 was the day they have waken up from noise from around the city.

The cause of the noise were gunshots because the government has been overthrown.

The newly freed prisoners were handed guns and they went to the houses of judges and lawyers who had sentenced them and killed them and their families.

I think that's crazy how the government can let them out and let them do that.

The prison system is different from US because our system is more secure.
12.I would
feel very paranoid and in fear if I were to live in Freetown when all this is happening.

The city turn into lawlessness because the RUF and the army had collaborated in ousting the civilian government for the benefit of the nation.

I would that that if life would be like if we had no laws and people handled their own troubles that the world would be chaotic and I would not want to live there.

A Long Way Gone Chapter 20

1. His version of NYC was people looking for violence on the streets? He got his idea of NYC from rap music.
2. I think NYC would be really busy, crowded, and cold.
3. He had no idea what winter was because he had never experienced the cold in Sierra Leone? He learn about winter from movies.
4. He felt cold and was surprised NYC wasn't what he expected.
5. I experienced culture shock when I first moved to the US. buildings, cars, traffic etc. were similar but the way people acted were different.
6. They were staying at Vanderbilt YMCA hotel.
7. The other children there all has similar stories of starvation, war, and suffering.
8. He was baffled by the food because he had never seen other types of food before and hard for him to adjust how he ate.
9. He learned about some of the other children there and they had somewhat of a similar struggle as him.
10. Laura Simms is a white woman who was a story teller from NYC that teaches people hot to tell their stories in a more compelling way.
11. He didn't accept her winter jacket because it was a girl's jacket.
12. Him and Madoka visited the Times Square and saw tall buildings, colorful lights, big colorful advertisement screens.
13. The conference was about each country speaking briefly at the UN Economic and Social Council chamber about their country and experiences.
14. His speech was about where he's from, what he's been through, and how things are at Sierra Leone.
15. Yes I agree with his speech because I just agree with it.

1. It means that Ishmael had to be reinstated into the normal society by living with relatives.
2 weeks felt longer than the 8 months at Benin home because he felt like he wasn’t doing much.
3. A time when I felt time was long was when I was really bored and wasn’t doing anything.
4. He survived the war.
5. I would not want to be the only survivor from your family because I would feel lonely.
6. The items that he packed in his plastic bag were a pair of sneakers, four T-shirts, three shorts, toothpaste, a toothbrush, a bottle of Vaseline lotion, a Walkman and some cassettes, two long-sleeved shirts, and two pairs of pants and a tie.
7. Mambu went back in front lines because his family refused to take him.
8. I cannot relate to mambu.
9. I was able to see my friends again when I went on vacation, it’s just that I was in a long distance and couldn’t see them until I get back,

11. His uncle picked him up as soon as he got off the van and welcomed him.

The civilians telling him what to do made him infuriating.
They hated attending scheduled medication checkups.
Them having major cravings was the result of them not having drugs.
They placed a bucket over the cook’s head and pushed him around to put more milk in their tea.
I have never bullied anyone.
The drugs in his system were wearing off and started to get steal pain relievers.
I can’t relate to his cravings.
In between meals they would fight for hours for no reason.
The staff members would come back after getting beaten up because they want to help them.
Poppay is an ex-military man. They wanted dry matresses because the mattresses they dad were soaked.
I would feel very tired and fed up If I had to go through that all day.
He was getting so many migraines because he is not used to not being in the front lines.
what did they do to the classroom? what happened to him because of it?
They would burn the school supplies and get more to burn or sell from staff members.
After breakfast they took the bus to the city,
When they went to the villages they were scouting for a new base before wet season started.
Most villages weren't suitable because they were either burned for destroyed,
Rambo was the famous movie do they refer all their war moves from.
They are cruel now and kills for fun.
They killed everyone they saw in the village.
Alhaji got the name little Rambo.
Ismael’s nickname was green snake because he was unnoticeable when firing at enemies while hiding in bushes.
The city had very tall buildings and everyone seemed busy and in a rush.
The informal school was for simple subjects such as math and English.
When he tried to sleep without medicine, he would wake up an hour later from nightmares.
The rainy seasons for Sierra Leone were May through October with heavy rains through July till September,
They took the bus home and didn’t pay for it because they had no money.
They would think about the war memories.
They couldn’t sleep because they were traumatized about the war.
The staff member would always say “This isn’t your fault” because they know what they have been going through.
